If fine lines around the eyes or forehead catch your eye in the bathroom mirror, you are not alone — and you do not need a complicated ten-step shelf to start.
This is a simple SNAP-8 serum routine: a light peptide serum first, then a matching cream. It is written for South African skin and sun, with clear steps, honest expectations, and a Face Pair offer if you want both bottles together.
For the ingredient basics, see our SNAP-8 peptide guide. For copper peptide layering order, see how to use copper peptides.
What this SNAP-8 expression lines routine is for
This routine is for people who want to soften the look of expression lines — the fine lines that show when you smile, frown or squint — and keep skin feeling smoother and more comfortable.
On the label, SNAP-8 appears as Acetyl Octapeptide-3. It is a cosmetic octapeptide from Lipotec (INCI: Acetyl Octapeptide-3), commonly used in leave-on formulas aimed at softening the look of expression lines (UL Prospector / Lipotec SNAP-8™; COSSMA product info).
Our 1% GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 Peptide Face Serum pairs that peptide with 1% GHK-Cu (Copper Tripeptide-1) and hyaluronic acid. The Renewal Cream also includes GHK-Cu and SNAP-8, with shea butter and squalane for a richer finish. The serum contains 1% GHK-Cu and 0.1% SNAP-8 (Acetyl Octapeptide-3).

Step-by-step: serum then cream
Water-based serums go on first. Cream seals the routine.
1. Cleanse
Use a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Pat dry — leave skin slightly damp if you like.
2. SNAP-8 serum
Once a day, smooth 2–3 drops of the 1% GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 Serum over face and neck. Give it a minute to settle before cream.

The 1% GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 Peptide Face Serum (30ml) — step two of this expression lines serum routine.
3. Renewal Cream
Follow with the GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 Renewal Face Cream. A pea-sized amount is usually enough for face and neck. The cream has a light “Ocean” fragrance. If you prefer fragrance-free, use our 1% GHK-Cu Face Cream instead.

The Renewal Cream (50g) — cream step after serum in a SNAP-8 cream routine.
Patch-test new products and introduce one at a time. If you use prescription actives, ask your doctor or dermatologist first.
Morning, evening and the vitamin C rule
You can run this GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 layering morning or night. The important rule is about vitamin C:
Don't layer them together. Use your copper peptide products morning or night, just leave vitamin C out of that routine.
In solution, copper speeds up the breakdown (oxidation) of vitamin C (Shen et al., 2021). So if vitamin C is your morning step, keep copper peptides for the evening — or use copper peptides in the morning and leave vitamin C out of that routine.
Sample day
| Morning | Evening | |
|---|---|---|
| Option A (vitamin C AM) | Cleanse → vitamin C → moisturiser without copper peptides → SPF | Cleanse → SNAP-8 serum → Renewal Cream |
| Option B (peptides AM) | Cleanse → SNAP-8 serum → Renewal Cream → SPF | Cleanse → retinol or cream only (if you use retinol) |
Sunscreen under South African UV
CANSA notes that South Africa has some of the highest monitored UV levels in the world, and that UV reaches skin on overcast days and on the daily drive, not only at the beach (CANSA, Be SunSmart). Use broad-spectrum SPF 20–50 (SPF 30–50 if your skin is fair), apply about 20 minutes before going outside, and reapply at least every two hours.
Peptides sit under sunscreen in any morning routine that does not include vitamin C.

Face Pair vs Duo: which bundle is for you?
Both bundles include the Renewal Cream. The difference is the serum:
| Bundle | Serum in the set | Price | Best if you want… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Face Pair | 1% GHK-Cu + SNAP-8 Serum | R1,550 · R1,711 separately · save R161 | SNAP-8 in both steps for the look of expression lines |
| Serum + Cream Duo | 2% GHK-Cu Serum (no SNAP-8 in the serum) | R1,500 · R1,633 separately · save R133 | Higher GHK-Cu in the serum, SNAP-8 only in the cream |
They are different sets — pick Face Pair for a SNAP-8 serum routine, or Duo if you already prefer the 2% copper peptide serum.
What this routine won't do
- It will not replace sunscreen.
- It will not change the look of lines overnight.
- It is a cosmetic routine for softer-looking expression lines and smoother-feeling skin with steady use — not a prescription treatment.
- If you have a skin condition, see a doctor or dermatologist before adding actives.
Frequently asked questions
What is a SNAP-8 serum routine?
Serum first (1% GHK-Cu + 0.1% SNAP-8), once a day, then Renewal Cream. Use morning or night; leave vitamin C out of that same routine. Details on what SNAP-8 is.
Can I layer GHK-Cu and SNAP-8 together?
Yes — that is how this Face Pair is built. The serum and cream both include GHK-Cu and SNAP-8 so you can layer them in one routine.
Can I use this routine with vitamin C?
Don't layer them together. Use your copper peptide products morning or night, just leave vitamin C out of that routine (Shen et al., 2021).
Face Pair or Duo — which should I buy?
Choose Face Pair if you want SNAP-8 in the serum and the cream. Choose the Duo if you want the 2% GHK-Cu serum with Renewal Cream instead.
Do I still need SPF if I only use peptides at night?
Yes. SA UV is high year-round. Wear broad-spectrum SPF every morning (CANSA).
The bottom line
Keep it simple: cleanse → SNAP-8 serum → Renewal Cream, morning or night, with vitamin C kept out of that routine, and SPF every day. For step order with other actives, use the how-to copper peptides guide.
